LCPD is committed to addressing urgent WASH challenges through sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven interventions. Achieving universal access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene in Nigeria requires comprehensive solutions that address infrastructure gaps, behavioral challenges, and policy weaknesses.
LCPD’s strategic approach integrates evidence-based interventions, stakeholder collaboration, and targeted advocacy to ensure sustainable WASH services in rural, peri-urban, and conflict-affected communities. Prioritizing equitable access, community empowerment, and systemic policy reforms, we aim to reduce disease burden, enhance resilience, and promote inclusive development in Northern Nigeria and beyond.
Our approach aligns with national WASH policies, the SDG 6 framework, and global best practices to ensure lasting impact. Specifically, LCPD’s WASH programs focus on: 1) facilitating equitable and inclusive access to clean water in rural communities and small towns, 2) strengthening community-led approaches to total sanitation in rural, peri-urban, and riverine settings, and 3) strengthening policy, governance, and gender-sensitive WASH frameworks at state and local government levels.
Our Theory of Change for WASH:
IF community-led WASH infrastructure and behavior-change initiatives are scaled via supportive governance,
THEN waterborne diseases will decrease and hygiene practices will strengthen,
BECAUSE populations gain equitable access to safe water, sanitation facilities, and sustained promotion efforts.
