Lake Chad Peace and Development Initiative (LCPD) previously called Yobe Peace and Community Development Initiative (YOPCODI) was established in October 2013 and registered in June 2014 as a civil society organization working with both government and Non-governmental local and international agencies to ameliorate the conditions of persons and communities affected by crisis and conflict in Northeast Nigeria. Our head Office is currently located in Damaturu the capital city of Yobe state, with liaison offices across the local government areas. Our approach to development is community driven and need based, through collaborations and partnerships with relevant agencies. LCPD’s key areas of expertise include helping communities to recover and utilize lost livelihood opportunities, provision of psychosocial support services, advocating for good governance, expanding access to education and Health services, mainstreaming Gender and social inclusion, Countering violent extremism through peace building, conflict resolutions and reconciliations as well as Youth and women empowerment. The communities we work with are always at the center of our services while protection and human rights issues are embedded into every layer of our programs. We currently, operate with a Board of Trustees as the supreme advisory body supported by a management team of 12 members who are specialists in our thematic areas, the team also works with over 50 volunteers.
